Ranges between 14oc to 20oc in the highlands and 20oc-250c in the lowlands

88% of the land lies within 500-2500m above sea level

Mostly alpine vegetation in the frigid high lands and wood Lands,
bush lands, savannahs and semi-arid shrubs in the lowlands.

Afan Oromo is the official language, Amharic, English & Arabic
are also widely spoken

It is headed by its own president elected every five years by the
Chaffe. The region is divided into 14 zones.

There are about 375 small and big towns with the population of
over 3.2 million.

  • Total gravel roads 3501 kilometers
  • Total dry -weather motorable roads 3241.45 kilometers
  • Rural or feeder roads 3938.74 kilometers
  • Railway line - connects 8 small and big towns.
  • Addis Ababa Bole International Airport is in the heart of the region. In addition, there are seven airfields within the State.
