Ambassador Girma Birru Presents Credentials To President of Mexico!
Tsehaye Debalkew, Washington DC, February 27, 2012

The newly appointed non-resident Ethiopian Ambassador to Mexico, Girma Birru presented his credentials to President Felipe Calderón, the President of the United Mexican States last Friday February 24, 2012 at the presidential palace in Mexico City.

According to a news release obtained from the Chancery of the Ethiopian embassy in Washington DC, Ambassador Girma Birru, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extra-ordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia reminisced and praised the historic role that Mexico played during the era of the League of nations by throwing its undivided support on the side of Ethiopia by staunchly rebuffing the wicked and unprovoked Fascist Italian aggression of Ethiopia during the Second World War.

Ambassador Girma on the occasion re-iterated Ethiopia's continued desire to enhance the existing ties in the realm of trade and investment to a yet higher level. He further elucidated that Ethiopia is currently striving and is poised to overcome poverty and enlist itself in the ranks of the middle income nations in the not too distant future through the realization of the on-going Growth and Transformation Plan presently in full gear.

President Felipe Calderón, the President of the United Mexican States, on his part said that Mexico appreciates Ethiopia's all-round effort to transform itself and expressed his country's readiness to extend its undaunted support to the nation-wide Growth and Transformation Drive and to further elevate the diplomatic ties between the two sisterly countries.
