Notice to Ethiopian Citizens Residing in the United States

Passport Renewal and Replacement Services

The Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Washington, D.C. informs Ethiopian citizens residing in the United States that passport renewal and replacement services are available through two official methods:

1. Passport Renewal Options

A. Online Renewal via Digital Invea

• Ethiopian passport holders can apply for passport renewal online through the official Digital Invea platform.
• The Digital Invea app is available for download from both the App Store (iOS) and Google Play Store (Android).
• After downloading the app, follow the step-by-step instructions to complete your application.

🔹 Payment Instructions:

• Payment for the service must be made online using a valid debit or credit card.
• Enter your card information on the secure payment section provided within the application.

🔹 Technical Requirements:

• Uploaded passport photo and scanned passport copy must each be under 2.5 MB in size.
• Applications that do not meet the technical or submission requirements will be delayed or rejected.

B. In-Person Renewal at the Embassy

Applicants may also choose to renew their passports in person by visiting the Ethiopian Embassy in Washington, D.C.

📌 Required Documents:

• Your expired Ethiopian passport
• One recent passport-sized photograph
• Passport renewal service fee payable by Money Order only (no cash or checks accepted)

Note:
Passport renewal is available only for EPRDF-issued Ethiopian passports.
Passports issued prior to that period or under special conditions are subject to verification.

 2. Lost Passport Replacement

If your Ethiopian passport is lost or stolen, you may apply for a replacement by submitting:

• A police report
• A copy of the lost passport, if available
• If not available, provide the passport number, if known
• The replacement fee (paid by Money Order)

Additional documentation may be required depending on the circumstances of your case.
