Dr. Markos Meets the Visiting Italian Defense Minister (April 10, 2019)

State Minister H.E. Dr. Markos Tekle met H.E. Mrs. Elisabetta Trenta, Defense Minister of the Republic of Italy this morning (April 10), in which both sides exchanged views on ways of deepening the long tradition of cooperation between Italy and Ethiopia.
Dr. Markos said that Ethiopia and Italy have a longstanding relation which spans more than a century. The State Minister underlined that the recent exchange of visits of the Prime Ministers of the two countries demonstrated their commitment to elevate the bilateral ties.
Dr. Markos also emphasized the need to further strengthen cooperation on the maintenance of regional peace and security.
H.E. Mrs. Elisabetta Trenta, on her part, expressed appreciation of the political, economic, and legal as well as judiciary reforms in Ethiopia. She also expressed her country’s commitment to work more closely with Ethiopia on aspects of regional peace and security.
The cooperation between Ethiopia and Italy is multidimensional covering wide range of areas both bilaterally and regionally for the peace, prosperity and stability of the Horn of Africa region. The two Ministers expressed their Government’s readiness to further heighten the existing ties as well as chart out areas of cooperation untapped before.
