Mrs. Hirut Confers with UK Special Envoy for the Red Sea and Horn of Africa (April 10, 2019)

State Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Mrs. Hirut Zemene conferred with H.E. Mr. Julian Reilly, UK Special Envoy for the Red Sea and Horn of Africa today (April 10), in which both sides accentuated the importance of elevating the already strong relations to new heights.
State Minister Mrs. Hirut Zemene appreciated the Ethiopia-UK collaboration for the peace and stability of the Red Sea and Horn of Africa region taking note of the historical commitment from both sides for peace and security as well as prosperity of the region.
Mrs. Hirut emphasized Ethiopia’s commitment to bolster the implementation of South Sudan’s revitalized peace deal under the IGAD framework as well as support to the Federal Government of #Somalia. Mrs. Hirut also underpinned the importance of strengthening the institutions in Somalia for durable peace.
H.E. Mr. Julian Reilly commended Ethiopia’s continued commitment for regional peace and security including in South Sudan and Somalia.
The Special Envoy expressed UK’s commitment to advance cooperation with Ethiopia both bilaterally and under the IGAD framework in a bid to ensure development and peace and security in the Red Sea and Horn of Africa region.
