OPIC 2X Africa Launched In Addis Ababa (April 16, 2019)

Advisor to the US President Ivanka Trump and Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) Acting President and CEO David Bohigian today launched OPIC 2X Africa.
The launch of the OPIC 2X took place at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, in the presence of Ethiopia’s President Sahle-Work Zewde and Giovanie Biha Deputy Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa
OPIC2X, a W-GDP initiative, seeks to directly invest $350 million to help mobilize $1 billion in capital to support women-owned, women-led, and women-supporting projects in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Launched in 2018, OPIC’s 2X Women’s Initiative has already invested more than $1 billion supporting women’s economic empowerment across the developing world.
