Addis Ababa Disinfects its Main Streets to Combat COVID-19 (March 29, 2020)

Addis Ababa City Administration on Sunday has disinfected the city’s main streets as part of prevention and containment of the spread of COVID-19.

As health workers and governments around the world work to slow the spread of COVID-19, large-scale disinfection efforts are becoming commonplace.

According to Office of the Mayor, in an effort to fight the spread of coronavirus, trucks are spraying disinfectant on a total of 41 kilometers on the main streets of the city.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, in his official facebook page, appreciated Addis Ababa City Administration for its efforts in fighting against coronavirus.

It is a “great work by the Addis Ababa City Administration disinfecting the city streets this morning,” Abiy said.

It can curtail the spread of the virus by social distancing and other preventive measures that individuals need to take in the communities, he added.
