The US Secretary of State H.E Antony Blinken has arrived in Addis Ababa with his Delegation. H.E. Ambassador Mesganu Arga; State Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, H.E Ambassador Seleshi Bekele; Ethiopia’s Ambassador to the United States and other high ranking government officials accorded warm welcome to Mr. Blinken upon his arrival at Bole International Airport.
Mr. Blinken is expected to meet with H.E Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (Dr.), Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H.E Demeke Mekonnen and other top government officials to discuss bilateral, regional and multilateral issues of common interest.
For several decades, Ethiopia and the U.S. have been closely working on multifaceted areas of trade, peace and security, health, education, agriculture, humanitarian assistance and other sectors.
The Secretary’s visit to Ethiopia will help to revitalize and strengthen the longstanding cooperation of the two countries to the highest level it deserves.
Secretary Blinken is also scheduled to meet Chairperson of the AU Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat.
Ethiopia and United States of America have 120 years of official diplomatic relationship.

በአሜሪካ የውጭ ጉዳይ ሚኒስትር ሚ/ር አንቶኒ ብሊንከን የተመራ የልዑካን ቡድን በነገው እለት (መጋቢት 5 ቀን 2015 ዓ.ም) ወደ ኢትዮጵያ ያቀናል።
ሚኒስትሩ በቆይታቸውም ከኢፌዴሪ ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ክቡር ዶ/ር አብይ አህመድ፣ ምክትል ጠ/ሚኒስትር እና የውጭ ጉዳይ ሚኒስትር ክቡር አቶ ደመቀ መኮነን እና ሌሎ ከፍተኛ የሥራ ኃላፊዎች ጋር ተገናኝተው እንደሚወያዩ ይጠበቃል።
በዚህም በሁለትዮሽ፣ ቀጣናዊ እና አለም አቀፋዊ ጉዳዮች ዙሪያ የጋራ ተጠቃሚነትን በሚያጎለብቱ ሃሳቦች ላይ የሚመክሩ ይሆናል።
ላለፉት በርካታ አስርት ዓመታት ሁለቱ አገራት በንግድ፣ በጸጥታና ደህንነት፣ በግብርና ልማት፣ በጤናና ትምህርት ማስፋፋት በሰብዓዊ ድጋፍ ወዘተ ዙሪያ በትብብር ሲሰሩ ቀይተዋል።
ይህ በአሁኑ ወቅተ የሚደረገው ጉብኝትም የአገራቱን ዘመናትን የተሻገር ጠንካራ መስተጋብር ወደሚመጥነው ከፍተኛ ስትራቴጂካዊ ግንኙነት ለማሸጋገር አስተዋጽዖ እንደሚያደርግ ይጠበቃል።

Diplomats and Staff at the Embassy of Ethiopia in Washington D.C celebrate the annual International Women’s Day under the Theme of “I’m My Sister’s Keeper”. H.E Ambassador Zelalem Birhan, Deputy Head of Mission, on the occasion lauded the extraordinary contribution of women to the transformation of Ethiopia in multifaceted fronts, including in the diplomatic fora.
He also stressed the need to promote women empowerment at all levels to accelerate inclusive implementation of national agendas. A discussion paper was presented focusing on the role of celebrating ’Women’s Day’ and the challenges women staff facing specially in the foreign service assignments.

ምክትል ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር እና የውጭ ጉዳይ ሚኒስትር አቶ ደመቀ መኮንን ከካዛኪስታን እና ከሰርቢያ የምክትል የውጭ ጉዳይ ሚኒስትሮች ጋር ተወያዩ። በአዘርባጃን ባኩ ከተማ እየተካሄደ በሚገኘው የገለልተኛ አገራት ንቅናቄ ጉባኤ እየተሳተፉ የሚገኙት አቶ ደመቀ፣ ኢትዮጵያ ከሌሎች አገራት ጋር የሚኖራትን የሁለትዮሽ ትብብር ለማጠናከር በሚቻልባቸው ጉዳዮች ላይ ከተለያዩ አገራት ጋር ተወያይተዋል። የካዛኪስታን ምክትል የውጭ ጉዳይ ሚኒስትር ካኔት ቱመሽ በኢትዮጵያ በመንግሥት በኩል የተካሄዱ የፖለቲካ እና የኢኮኖሚ ለውጦችን አድንቀዋል። ካኔት ሀገራቸው በቱሪዝም እና በኢንሸስትመንት አቅሞች ላይ በጋራ ለመሥራት ፍላጎት እንደላትም ገልጸዋል። ምክትል የውጭ ጉዳይ ሚኒስትሩ በኢትዮጵያ በቢዝነስ ሥራዎች የተሰማሩ ባለሀብቶች በካዛኪስታን ጉብኝት እንዲያደርጉ እና ትሥሥራቸውን እንዲያጠናክሩም ጠይቀዋል። እንዲሁም ካዛኪስታን ለተማሪዎች ነፃ የስኮላርሺፕ ዕድሎች እንደምታመቻችም ተናግረዋል።አቶ ደመቀ በበኩላቸው፣ በኢትዮጵያ የነበረውን ውስጣዊ ችግር ለመፍታት በሰላም ስምምነቱ አፈፃፀም ላይ ማብራሪያ የሰጡ ሲሆን በውስጥ አቅም ችግሮችን ለመፍታት የተደረጉ ጥረቶችና ወደ ተግባር የተገባበትን ሂደት አስረድተዋል።
የሁለቱን አገሮች የንግድ እና የቢዝነስ ትብብር በሚፈለገው ደረጃ ማሳደግ እንደሚገባም ተናግረዋል።ካዛኪስታን እ.ኤ.አ በ2017/2018 በተባበሩት መንግሥታት የፀጥታው ምክር ቤት የተለዋጭ ቋሚ ኮሚቴ አባል በነበረችበት ወቅት ከኢትዮጵያ ጋር በቅርበት ስትሠራ እንደነበርም አስታውሰዋል። በተመሳሳይ አቶ ደመቀ ከሰርቢያ ምክትል የውጭ ጉዳይ ሚኒስትር አይቨክ ዳሴክ ጋር ውይይት አድርገዋል።በውይይታቸውም በሁለቱ አገሮች መካከል ያለውን ጠንካራ ታሪካዊ ግንኘነት ማሳደግ በሚቻልባቸው ጉዳዮች ላይ መምከራቸውን ኢዜአ ዘግቧል። ካዛኪስታን እና ሰርቢያ የገለልተኛ አገራት ንቅናቄ አባል ሲሆኑ ከኢትዮጵያ ጋር በዓለም አቀፍ መድረኮች፣ በባለብዙ ወገን ዲፕሎማሲ በትብብር ይሠራሉ።

H.E Ambassador Seleshi Bekele, Ethiopia’s Ambassador to the U.S.A, on his opening remarks said “Ethiopia is a cradle of mankind, one of the oldest civilizations in the world, never colonized, a founding member of the United Nations and the African Union.”
He also added that “Ethiopia’s various attractions offer great opportunities for archeological and religious tourism, hunting safaris, bird watching, water sports, desert trekking, mountain hiking, camping and ecotourism.”
He encouraged participants to visit Ethiopia and experience the hidden treasures of the nation and enjoy the warm hospitality of the people.
Mr. Samson Arega Ethiopian Airlines U.S.A Regional Director on his part expressed the growing presence of the Airline in the country, including the upcoming Atlanta destination which is expected its first flight in May.
“The Airline continues to serve its customers with maximum comfort in a Pan- African spirit.” Mr. Samson added.
Mr. Greg Blad, CEO of ThingstodoDC.com expressed his commitment of working closely with the Embassy to promote the rich history and culture of Ethiopia to the American public.
Ethiopian traditional coffee ceremony with organic test and authentic Ethiopian cuisine were served to the attendants.
Traditional songs and dance, artifacts, alphabets, Ethiopian classic paintings and cultural attires were also showcased which gave a special aura to the program.
The breathtaking tourist sites such as the magnificent 4th-century AD Obelisks of Axum, the 11th Century medieval rock-hewn churches of Lalibela; the 17th Century castles of Gondar as many calls it the Camelot of Africa, the spectacular Sof Omar Caves, and the world’s fourth-holiest Islamic city – Harar as well as Negash, the earliest Islamic settlement in Africa, National Parks and other UNESCO registered heritages were promoted.
The participants expressed their satisfaction by the colorful event and affirmed their plan of visiting Ethiopia to explore the rich history and stunning attractions.

H.E Ambassador Seleshi met and discuss with Ms. Vanessa Ibarra, Executive Director of International & Immigrant Affairs, Mayor’s Office of Atlanta. The two were joined by Mr. Samson Arega, Ethiopian Airlines, Regional Director of USA.
Ambassador Seleshi expressed his appreciation to the Mayor of Atlanta for the unwavering support accorded to the Ethiopian Airline’s much anticipated operation to the city starting next May, 2023.
He also mentioned Ethiopia’s keen interest in establishing deeper connections with Atlanta in University linkages, sister city twining, technology transfer, investment, etc.
Ms. Vanessa on her part applauded the decision of #Ethiopian Airlines to connect Atlanta with Africa and beyond.
She also augmented the need to collaborate in the areas of innovation, entrepreneurship and tourism sector.
Mr. Samson on his part said the destination to Atlanta will be a great addition of the growing service of the Airline in the USA. It will cement the people to people ties of the two countries, he added.
