( ሰኔ 27 ቀን 2015ዓ.ም) የኢ.ፌ.ዲ.ሪ. ምክትል ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር እና የውጭ ጉዳይ ሚኒስትር አቶ ደመቀ መኮንን የአሜሪካ ምክር ቤት አባል ትሬንት ኬሊ ዛሬ (ሰኔ 27/2015 ዓ.ም) በጽ/ቤታቸው ተቀብለው አነጋገሩ፡

ክቡር ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትሩ እና የተከበሩ ኬሊን ውይይት የኢትዮ አሜሪካ ወዳጅነት የበለጠ በሚጠናከርበት እና የአፍሪካ ቀንድ የሠላም እና ደህንነት ሁኔታ ላይ ያተኮረ ነበር፡፡
የምክር ቤቱ ባለፈው ዓመት ወደ ኢትዮጵያ ከመጡ በኃላ ያደረጉት የመጀመሪያ ጉብኝት እንደሆነ ጠቅሰው ብዙ ጉዳዮች በበጎ ሁኔታ መለወጣቸውን መታዘብ እንደቻሉ ጠቅሰዋል፡፡

የኢትዮጵያ መንግስት በአገሪቱ ሰላም እንዲመጣ እየወሰደ ያለውን በጎ ዕርምጃ አሜሪካ እንደምትገነዘብ ጠቅሰው ከሰብአዊ መብት ጋር በተያያዘ ተጥሎ የነበረው ገደብ መነሳቱ ግንኙነቱ ለማጠናከር ትልቅ ፋይዳ አለው ብለዋል፡፡

ክቡር ምክትል ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትሩ በአገራችን ወቅታዊ ሁኔታ ላይ ማብራሪያ በመስጠት ዓለም አቀፉ ማህበረሰብ የዳግም ግንባታና የመልሶ ማቋቋም ዕቅዶችን እንዲደግፍ ጥሪ አቅርበዋል፡፡

During the “2nd Afri-Run High-Level Forum on Equitable and Reasonable Utilisation of Transboundary Watercourses in Africa” held today at the Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen Hassen urged riparian states for an equitable and reasonable use of the Nile River. The Forum was conducted under the theme “African Resources for African Prosperity in the New Age”. The second leg of the forum will be conducted tomorrow (23 June).

In his keynote address DPM and FM Demeke noted, lack of political will and hegemonic tendencies over shared resources immensely contribute to little or no cooperation. He added, these challenges will continue to stand against our shared aspirations of ensuring sustainable development.

He said, it is high time that we redouble efforts to deal with the challenges building on the great strides we have made in the past to ensure equitable and reasonable use of transboundary resources. The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) is an exemplary initiative that champions equitable and reasonable use, he added.

በውይይቱም የበድር ኢትዮጵያ ተወካዮች በቅርቡ ከእስልምና እምነት ተቋማት እና ከመኖሪያ ቤቶች ጋር በተገናኘ በተለይ በአዲስ አበባ ዙሪያ ተከስተዋል ያሏቸውን ችግሮች አንስተዋል።

በድር ኢትዮጵያ ህገ-ወጥነተን እንደማይደግፍ፤ ይሁንና የሚወሰዱ እርምጃዎች ህዝቡን አደጋ ላይ በማይጥል፣ በውይይት እና ወደ ቅሬታ በማያስገባ መልኩ እንዲሆን ጠይቀዋል።

ድርጅቱ በቀጣይም አባላቱን በማስተባባር ለአገር ልማት፣ ሰላምና መልሶ ግንባታ የሚያደርገውን ድጋፍ እንደሚያጠናክርም ተናግረዋል።

ክቡር አምባሳደር ስለሺ በበኩላቸው የተነሱትን ጥያቄዎች እንደሚገነዘቡ፣ በድር ኢትዮጵያ አገራችን ኢትዮጵያ በገጠሟት ፈተናዎች ሁሉ አባላቱን አስተባብሮ የገንዘብ፣ የቁሳቁስ እና የፐብሊክ ዲፕሎማሲ ድጋፍ በማድረግ ላሳየው አጋርነት አመስግነዋል። ይህም ተጠናክሮ እንደሚቀጥል ያላቸውን እምነት ገልጸዋል።

በድርጅቱ ተወካዮች በኩል የተነሱ ጥያቄዎችን እና በጽሁፍ የቀረቡ መልዕክቶችን ለሚመለከታቸው የመንግስት ተቋማት እንደሚያደርሱም ቃል ገብተዋል።

H.E Adanech Abiebie, Mayor of Addis Ababa, concludes her fruitful working visit in Washington D.C.
In her weeklong Washington D.C mission, The Mayor held a series of bilateral discussions, field visits, experience sharing seminars and diaspora engagements.
She had a candid bilateral conversation with her Washington D.C. counterpart, Mayor Muriel Bowser, on ways of implementing the Sister-City Agreements signed in 2019.
The Mayors agreed to establish a working group aimed at invigorating the gaps and opportunities in terms of implementing the agreement and way forward.
H.E Ambassador Seleshi mentioned that the Embassy will continue bridging the offices of the two cities.
An experience sharing consultation forum was also held between the cities sectoral offices such as Health, educations, planning, economic development bureaus. In this forum, the respective offices presented their best practices and lessons to be taken.

Washington D.C sectoral offices vowed to provide capacity building trainings to Addis Ababa City experts on several fronts.
The Mayor and her Delegation paid several field visits including the capital river front redevelopment projects around Navy yard, D.C Water and recycling projects built by public and private partnerships.
In her last day of Washington D.C mission H.E Mayor Adanech Abiebie held a candid discussion with DMV area Ethiopia Diaspora Business Community where 200,000 USD was raised for the “Dine for Generation” project.
Mayor Adanech elaborated the conducive investment opportunities in Addis Ababa in the areas of technology, construction, health, hospitality, education and several others.
She also lauded Embassy of Ethiopia, Washington, D.C. for facilitating bilateral discussions, field tours in collaboration with Mayor office of D.C and organizing a fruitful diaspora engagements in coordination.
Prior to traveling to D.C, Mayor Adanench and her Delegation had a productive engagement with the City of Denver which was showcased by the signing of a Sister City Agreement with Addis Ababa.
